Recession hit, it hit so badly; but, the welfarist approach that the Ajimobi-led administration deployed to wean its effects off Oyo state and its people is exemplary, and should be understudied and copied by other states still struggling with it.
This welfarist approach saw to the judicious use of a handsome percentage of the Paris funds and the FAAC for salaries and gratuities, while the state government focused on –
1) boosting the IGR (rose to 8th position within this period out of the 36 states), and,
2) mastering the application of Public-Private-Partnerships – to maintain the rate of infrastructural development and other projects within the state.
This above, mostly explains the outcome for Oyo state, in the infographic from an independent source below, coming down from 7-8 months.
